hantamaps.com is a live hantavirus and Andes virus outbreak tracker. This policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and what choices you have.
What We Collect
This website does not collect personally identifiable information. Your language preference and cached outbreak data are stored locally in your browser's localStorage only — nothing is sent to our servers. Basic access logs (IP address, browser type, timestamp) may be retained by our hosting provider, Cloudflare, for security and performance purposes.

- Caching outbreak data locally so the map loads faster on return visits.

- MapLibre GL JS / OpenStreetMap tiles — open-source map rendering. Tile requests may be logged by the tile provider.
- Google AdSense — this site may display ads served by Google. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out at Google Ads Settings.
Data Sources
Outbreak data is sourced from publicly available reports by the World Health Organization (WHO), CDC, ECDC, PAHO, and national health ministries. No private or patient-level data is ever collected or displayed.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS via Cloudflare. No user accounts, login forms, or payment flows exist on this website. There is no backend database storing personal information.
Changes to This Policy
This policy is effective as of 2026-05-12. We may update it to reflect changes in services or legal requirements. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated effective date.
